Horse Racing Gifts

By: Dave Articlesubmit

If you go racing regularly you must have noticed the increased number of trade stands that are offering a variety of horse race related items for sale. Now it is not only the book makers who are after your money when you go racing. Whilst some stands are offering tack and equipment there are also many offering collectible items related to horse racing.
One of the most popular areas of collecting in this field are paintings and prints. There are some really high quality limited edition prints of the better known horse such as Sea the Stars, Kauto Star and Desert Orchid. You can even commission an artist to paint a picture of a specific horse which would make a great gift for the horse’s owner. For those of us with more modest means a signed Limited Edition print can be purchased for around £100 ($160). A print signed not only by the artist but the jockey and trainer would cost quite a bit more.
Ceramic models of horses can range in price from a few pounds up to several hundred and just like prints there many being produced as limited editions. These are often described as the “antiques of the future” and as a long term investment they may prove to be just that. IN addition to ceramics horse figures are produced in a variety of materials including wood, pewter and silver.
Another group of gifts that many horse race lovers would appreciate are books. These come in many forms, biographies of leading figures in the sport, Form books and guides as well as general interest and reference books on the subject.
There are also plenty of jewellery items on the market with a horse racing theme. Items such as broaches, pendants and cuff links are a popular choice. The cost of these will depend upon the material they are made from and the workmanship but there are products to suit all pockets in the jewellery range.
There are two more gifts which may be more expensive than some but would really be appreciated by a horse race lover. The first is membership to a race horse syndicate. This is where each member of the syndicate has a share in a race horse and it makes ownership possible for many who might otherwise not be able to afford it. A second option that is becoming more and more popular is to sponsor a horse race in someone’s name. This usually comes in a package which also includes entrance and special treatment at the course. The person whom the race is named after also gets the opportunity to judge the best turn out horse. IT can make for a really great day out for any horse race fan.
